Nope. That just doesn’t sound right. Like the song title, “Going Through Hell”, sometimes that’s how life feels.
I have amazing friends who bring so much into my life. One of them was lost today. Not actually lost. Just not showing up on another friend’s phone locator, therefore lost. As threats of sending out the bloodhounds were sent in text, the missing friend popped into the joint text.
In finding her, we discovered that she had experienced the day from hell. What is epic about this is that this is quite likely the most she has ever cursed. No doubt about it – she had an awful day.
At times when I feel like I am going through hell, I crank up Rodney Atkins and have him tell me:
If you’re going through Hell
Keep on going, don’t slow down
If you’re scared, don’t show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you’re there
I’ve had more than one occasion to play this song. Tonight I played it thinking about my friend. I’ve seen her go through bad, hard, ugly things that I can only imagine. I know that in her shoes, I would have used far worse words. I also know that she will keep on going and get through this unpleasantness.
In the meantime, just in case the conveyor belt of hell is part of tomorrow, I hope she remembers the following:
But the good news
Is there’s angels everywhere out on the street
Holding out a hand to pull you back upon your feet
I’m grateful for all of the angels in my life. And for music.
